Hindi professor-turned-love guru-turned-a wannabe politician Matuk Nath Chowdhary, three years since his extramarital affairs with a girl half his age came into light, was finally fired by the Patna University ending a real-life soap opera that captivated the heart of hundreds of Patna youths for last several years.
The decision to sack Chowdhary was taken following the meeting of Patna University syndicate headed by Vice Chancellor Dr. Shyam Lal on Saturday.
The syndicate, after carefully going through Chowdhary's reply to a show-cause notice earlier issued to him to explain his rather unconventional behavior for a teacher, said his actions had damaged the prestige of the university and therefore, it was appropriate to terminate his services.
Chowdhary hit the headline back on July 8, 2006 when his wife walked into a police station where he had been detained and painted his face black in full public view after the revelation of his extra-marital affairs in the media.
A day after the incident, Chowdhary showed up at B. N. College accompanied by Julie, his paramour, and mingled with the students giving them lectures on how to be a good lover.
It may be recalled that Chowdhary also jumped into the last Parliamentary polls as an independent candidate from Patna Saheb constituency with love on the top of his agenda.
Promising to build an exclusive park for the lovers in Patna, Chowdhary failed to muster enough support and, like many other candidates in the race, ended up forfeiting his deposit.
